Toad
2014 was an excellent year for blackberries, and as we walked through
Macclesfield Forest looking out for nice juicy ones we were lucky not to
step on this fine creature.
Apparently, as I've now read, it's frogs that leap out of the way when
people get too close; toads just sit still - presumably hoping to blend
into the background. It succeeded reasonably well, though of course
the more inconspicuous it is, the more likely it is to get trodden on.
Anyway, Pauline spotted it in time, and it duly sat still to let me take its photo.
