Ashdown
Forest (1)
Once a medieval hunting ground, Ashdown Forest covers some 14,000
acres (over 5600 hectares) of heath and woodland, one of the largest
areas of open countryside in the south-east of England, and home to an
abundance of wildlife.
Once upon a time it was also home to some very famous animals - among
them a bear, a piglet, a tiger cub, a kangaroo, a rabbit (with all its
friends and relations), an old donkey and a wol. This was the home of
Winnie the Pooh, whose owner, Christopher Robin, lived in nearby
Hartfield.
Now you can organise your own expotition to the North Pole, play Pooh
Sticks, count how many pine trees there really are, and try not to fall
into the heffalump trap - as well as enjoying country walks.
