Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway

The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway was built by a millionaire racing driver in the 1920s as a one-third scale replica of a mainline railway, running between Hythe and Dungeness.

From the start it was a popular tourist attraction, but during the Second World War it took on a strategic importance as a military railway.

It re-opened after the war, but as foreign holidays became more popular it went into decline. However, a group of enthusiasts turned it round and it is once again a thriving and popular attraction.
